ABOUT GYMRAT JERKY

What makes Gymrat Jerky different?

When you're comparing Gymrat Jerky to the rest, there's two things you should look at: the protein content and the ingredients list.

Check the protein on an average supermarket beef jerky: 35.7 grams per 100g.

Now check out the back of a bag of Smoky BBQ Gymrat Jerky: 56.4 grams per 100g!

With all this protein, you're massively boosting your chances of building muscle, crushing hunger and getting more jacked.

Now, let's check ingredients.

Because it's one thing to just cram in protein by any means necessary: but the best part about us is that we also help you do it 100% clean!

Average Supermarket Jerky: Beef, Sugar, Salt, Maltodextrin (from Corn), Soy Sauce Powder, Spices (Ground Coriander, White Pepper, Ginger Powder, Nutmeg), Canola Oil, Yeast Extract, Celery Powder, Cherry powder, Garlic Powder, Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrates), Plum Powder, Smoke Condensate.

Smoky BBQ Gymrat Jerky: Beef, Sea Salt, Garlic Powder, Ground Coriander, Smoked Paprika, Pepper.

Steak, salt, and spices: that's it. No need for seed oils, added sugar, or artificial preservatives: just damn good protein.

And don't even get us STARTED on the average protein bar: with artificial ingredients better suited to a tin of paint than something you eat when you need protein on the go, I think we both know what the better option is...

Is it vegan-friendly?

Not quite - while the fine selection of spices we use in our recipes are 100% plant-based, the beef jerky itself is in fact made out of beef which many do not consider to be vegan.

What kind of beef do you use?

For all our flavours of Gymrat Jerky, we use lean cuts of 100% Australian premium beef.

Grass-fed?

Given Australia's very high standards for cattle welfare, our beef is indeed grass-fed, but due to fluctuations in supply, we can't guarantee that all our beef is grass-finished.

The average Australian cow spends 85-90% of their lives eating grass before finishing on a grain-based diet. This diet mainly consists of all-natural feed such as barley, wheat and sorghum. This "finishing diet" is consumed for roughly the last 50-120 days before a cow is slaughtered.

The majority of the beef we use is finished in this way. While some of our beef comes from cows both grass-fed and grass-finished, we wouldn't feel right about guaranteeing this for every bite of jerky.

But rest assured: Aussie cows are extremely healthy, ensuring that every piece of Gymrat Jerky you get is both nutritious AND delicious!

Halal?

Gymrat Jerky is made with 100% Halal-certified beef, however please note that our facility is not currently Halal certified due to the costs associated with doing this process formally.

Gluten-free?

Yep - zero gluten.

Keto/low carb friendly?

Absolutely! A whole bag of Smoky BBQ Gymrat Jerky contains roughly 2 grams of carbs.

Any seed oils?

Nope - and the same goes for soy, added sugar and artificial preservatives. All our flavours are, and always will be, 100% free of any of these!

What's the shelf life?

The average bag of beef jerky is marked with a Best Before date 6 months after production.

It's best stored in a cool, dark place (like a pantry), and be preserved better in a fridge or freezer.

Once opened, we recommend you eat the whole bag within about 3 days. But don't worry, we don't even think you'll want to wait that long ;)

Oh, and because we don't use artificial preservatives, you won't see us having the ridiculous, multi-year shelf-life of some other products, but we think that's a small price to pay for being 100% real food.

SHIPPING

Where do you ship from?

All of our order ship direct, from one gymrat to another, out of Brisbane, Australia.

Do you ship internationally?

If you're chasing clean protein from somewhere outside of Australia, thankfully we do offer some international shipping!

However, due to differing customs regulations, we can't ship beef to all destinations. See our 'Shipping and Delivery' page for more info about costs and availability.

Notable countries we've seen orders through include New Zealand and Singapore.

To get the most accurate estimate, we recommend just adding a few products to your cart, and from here you can see our most current shipping information.

Please note that we are not responsible for the payment of any additional customs or duties, and it's up to you to make sure the products can be imported legally into your country.

Also, international orders may be subject to extra customs processing time, which is unfortunately out of our control and just part of doing international shipping.

If you feel your order is taking too long to arrive, we recommend contacting the relevant shipping carrier in your country and citing your tracking number, as once the package is out of Australia, there's not much that we can personally do to speed it along.

How about the US?

Sadly, the United States is one of the big places we aren't able to ship to :(

We're hoping to get something going for 2025 that changes that, so stay tuned!

How much to ship in Australia?

We offer a $9.95 flat rate for standard shipments anywhere in the country, as well as free shipping for orders over $100!

And if you're in a rush, we also offer $14.95 express shipping.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We ship all of our packages through Australia Post, meaning a wait time of 2 to 8 business days for standard shipping, and 1 to 4 business days for express.

City deliveries are usually quicker, whereas rural destinations might take a bit longer.

We'll typically ship out the very next business day after you place your order (meaning if you order on Friday, we'll usually send it out on Monday).

How do I track my order?

Once your order has shipped, you'll get a shipping confirmation email with your Aus Post tracking number.

Simply search it up on their website and you'll see where it's at!

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Who and what is Mithras?

We're pretty well known for our flagship product, Gymrat Jerky, but then what about the company as a whole?

Well, we take our inspiration from the Roman god Mithras. Pronounced MYTH-RUS, he was a mysterious figure worshipped by soldiers on the outskirts of the Roman Empire.

The ancient sources tell us that Mithras was known for sacrificing a bull and sharing it with the sun. Aside from the obvious fact that we, y'know, take beef from cows and dry it out with heat, it also speaks to our overall brand philosophy.

We take what's out there in nature, and honor it to make something new. We grab life by the horns.

That's why it's Mithras Nutrition.

Are you an Australian company?

We're proud to say we are 100% Australian owned, and Gymrat Jerky is 100% Australian made.

If you want to know more of our story, you can check out the 'About Us' page!

How much does the founder deadlift?

This is a very important question, and arguably the most important question you can ask for any business.

We can verify the fact that our company founder hit an all-time PR of 260kg at an 80kg bodyweight.

Can the big corporate jerky companies say the same? I don't think so...
